Members of the Rhod3 Island House engaged in fist fights as the result of a heated debate on a measure to place the administration of the Pawuckets police, fire and public v.'orks departments in the hands of •i commission, depriving the Mayor of control. The Bill was torn in halves during the riot. One member plunged head first over a desk, recovered the pieces and curried them to the Speaker The Governor, Mr. Quinn, summoned State and city police, who stopped the battle. An adjournment of the House followed.
