Greek Customs for Royal Baby.

According to Greek tradition, the baby* daug iter of the Duke and Duchess of Kent should have a particularly fortunate life. In Greece it is considered very lucky to be born on Christmas Day, and there is a national saying that if a nev ’born baby looks at lighted candles on Christmas morning the shine of them will be seen in her eyes all her li e. The new Princess certainly saw lighted candles during her first hours., for the Duchess of Kent followed one of her own na tional customs in having a ChTistnua-s tree erected in her bedroom. It was lit with candles, and had heaped round it the masses of white roses and chrysanthemums vliich were sent to her from Sandringham, According to another Grecian tradition, candles were light ?d and passed round the bed of the Inichess shortly after the baby’s birth, and visitors who came to inquire for her were handed sweet vines, almond cakes, and fruits.
