POACHER AND POLICE.

French Village Tragedy. Press Association—Copyright. Received 1 p.m. London, April 1. The Paris correspondent of the Times reports: “During a funeral procession in the village of Valinsolles a poacher, as an act of revenge on the police, with whom he had an encounter last week, fired at close range from his cottage and fatally wounded two gendarmes. The mourners scattered. “The plucky local Mayor threw a stone at the poacher, who aimed at the Mayor, but the poacher had forgotten to reload. “The murderer slammed the window and instantly committed suicide."
