The Ministry of Labour estimated that at March 15 the number of insured persons in employment in Britain, exclusive of persons within the agricultural scheme, was approximately 11,242,000. This was 55,000 more than a month before and 553,000 more than a year before. At the same date the number of registered unemployed was 1,601,201. Unemployed on March 15 were 280,330 fewer than at March 23, 1936.
