CROWNS DISMANTLED

Vandalism at Suva. Suva, March 22. A mild sensation was created when it was discovered that the ornamental crowns which adorned the gates of Government House were missing. They were eventually found at the Triangle, where they had found lodging undef Suva’s historical ivy tree. The fact that the two American destroyers, the Preston and the Smith, were in port, and that the town waa liberally patronised by sailors, gave some colour to rumours as to who the vandals were. Beach rumour Is that a sailor showed the crowns to some girls at Naigigi, telling them that the eagle was better than a crown, but this has not been confirmed. The police are making inquiries.
