PLANTING OF TREES.
Coronation Memory. (To the Editor.) Sir, —Your readers will no doubt be aware that, as part of the celebration of the Coronation, a proposal has been that tree-planting should be included in the programme; and as the time is now getting short, 1 would appreciate your assistance in again drawing public attention to the matter. It is proposed to plant the north and south approaches to the town, but if the required support is forthcoming, there is no reason why planting should not be extended to other borough streets. In some streets planting has been done in the past, and the value of the work can be appreciated today. At the request of the general meeting held recently, my society undertook the raising of funds to provide the trees and the planting of same. May 1, on behalf of the society, appeal to your readers, as residents of Stratford, to contribute to the funds now being raised? Donations either of cash or suitable trees may be made either to the undersigned or any member of the society, or to the Town Clerk. —I am, etc., C. R. F. TILLEY, Hon. Sec., Stratford Horticultural Society.
