NATIONALITY ACT
Australian Measure to Operate April 1. Sydney, March 30. Proclamation of April 1 as the date of commencement of the Nationality Act, passed by the Federal Parliament last year, will be a step towards uniformity. The legislation provides, generally, that the nationality of a married woman be that of her husband but where a woman, by marriage, cannot, or does not, choose to adopt that nationality, she may retain her British status. A British woman who becomes an ■lien by virtue of her marriage, will, by the Act, be enabled, while in Australia, to enjoy the rights and privileges of a British subject. An Australian woman will have the option of declaring whether she desires to retain her nationality as an Australian.
