With expressions of goodwill as spontaneous at* those, with which they welcomed him 12 months ago when the -naw Qovernmerit assumed office, the' citizens of Wellington to-night farewelled the Prime Minister, Mr M. J. Savage, at a big gathering in the Town Hall on the eve of his departure for I>ond on to attend the Coronation and the Imperial Conference. On behalf of the citizens of Wellington, Mr Hislop wished the Prime Minieter a pleasant voyage, success to the deliberations in which he would take part, and a speedy return. The Prime Minister, replying, returned thanks for the warm reception accorded him and said that during his absence abroad his heart, would be in New Zealand. He had no cut and dried: ideas about anything, but his mind had not been moulded on a bed of, rosef., and if when it came to a show-down his actions seemed to be directed towards helping those who were struggling with him in days gone by he-supposed that was 1 only a human result. After all he could understand the struggles of the average family.
