ANNIVERSARY DAYS.

Dominion’s Celebrations Friday was, the anniversary day of the founding of the province of Otago, which was celebrated bv the holding of a general holiday and a number of special functions throughout the province. Taranaki’s anniversary day falls on Tuesday of next week, but for some reason or another it. lias not. Leon thought fit to hold celebrations of any kind on the Say. Trading banks throughout the province will, however, be closed. In 'connection with provincial anniversary holidays, it is interesting to note that there is a growing feeling that these should all be celebrated on the one day throughout the .Dominion. The idea appears to be a good one, as there is very little difference in the ’ dates on which the first settlers arrived in each province.
