Damage estimated at £50,000 was done in a fire which destroyed the premis.es of the Or chard Ist s’ Cool Stores Company at Doncaster, 20 miles from Melbourne, to-day. Half 'the storage space for 40,000 casts of apples and pears.' was burned. About 200 fruitgrowers are heavy losers. Fifty firemen fought the blaze The fruit destroyed was valued at 8s a case and the total vialue was £16,000. Much of it was not insured. One grower lost 1500 uninsured cases. The building and the plant were- insured for £40,000.
