EARLY HISTORY
Important Records of Colonisation Days. Press Association —Copyright.. Wellington, March 23. Documents of first importance to the records of early New Zealand colonisation, particularly from 1819 to. 1855, have b:en obtained on loan for two years from ths archives of the Weeleyan Church, London, by Rev. Rugby Pratt, Christchurch. They throw new light on various episodes in the colony’s history from the. coming of the first missionaries until the beginnings of self-government, and have much to tell of the eurly relationship between the whites and the Maoris. No historian has hitherto made a thorough examination of these documents, which the Department of Internal Affairs and the Turnbull Library authorities consider the most important acquisition for 20 years.
