TESTING MOTOR VEHICLES
No Extension of Time Limit. Press Association —Copyright. Wellfngto'!. March 23. “I have received representations that the dat by which motor vehicles are required to carry warrant* of fitness, March 31, 1937, should b ■xtended jo May 31,” said the Minister of Transport, Hon R. Semple, to-day. ‘I have oarefeully considered lhe representations and have decided that the present date is to be adhered to.
“I have reached my decision for two main reasons,” said the Minister. "The first is that I am anxious in the Interests of public safety that all motor vehicles should be made mechanically safe as soon as possible, and the second is that “last minute” psychology would apply, even if the fate were postponed. With the result that garages would not be able to deal with the rush over the last few days. “To the present more than 600 garages have been approved tor the issue of warrants of fitness. Additional garages’ are being approved daily, so motorists should experience no difficulty in having vehicles inspected.”
