GOVERNMENT INACTION

Promises to Deputation Not Kept. Press Association —Copyright. Masterton, March 23. The inaction of the Government in giving effect to promises made by Ministers to a Wairarapa deputation which waited on them last May relative to improved railway facilities over the Rimutakias was discussed by the Mast rton Chamber of Commerce to-day, -when it was decided to call a district conference with which Wellington bodies could be invited to be associated to enter a protest. "We have a. good case,” said Mr T, Jordan, Mayor of Masterton, "and 'all the three Ministers who were' interview,a admitted our case. We are entitled to protest against the treatment now given to us by the Ministers and to emphasise the contrast between that treatment and promises ma le to the deputation in May. It war stated that although the deputation was assured that a report on the project would be obtained by the Government, all efforts since to obtain a satisfactory reply from the Prime Minister or his Ministers had been fruitless. It Was emphatically stated that the Government's promises to the deputation had not been kept.
