ESCAPE FROM ASYLUM

Making his escaoe from Avondale Mental Hospital at about midnight last night, a Maori inmate, who hart bi in .-placed there after beiiv charg ed with a serious oaence in the Supreme Court, returned not long afterward 'and helped two other inmates, another Maori and a white woman, to escape. They aro described as being dangerous and so far have not been arrested. They Were not discovered to be misting until a nurse on duty in their wing of the hospital was making her rounds some time afterward. No suspicious characters have yet been reported to the police, and it is thought possible that they have left Auckland. The home of the Maori who escaped first is stated to be in the far north.
