FARM LABOUR.
Government Subsidy Scheme Palmerston North, March 10. Last month he placed 69 men in farm Work—24 on dairy farms—and he had farm hands on his books only two or three hours, said the Placement Officer, M.r J. L. C. Merton, when he spoke to the Manawatu provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union to-day on the Government’s scheme for the subsidy ot inexperienced workers.
Mr Merton said the difficulty was with married men who had the training and qualifications and 'Whose wives were prepared to go into the country, in some cases to assist. However, there was no accommodation tor married farm workers. There were quite a number of these men in the Manawatu district -Whom farmers would be pleased to have on their farms.
