IMMIGRATION OUTLET POLAND SUPPORTS JAPAN Britain Replies To Criticism. Press Association—Copyright. (Received 11.50 a.m.) Geneva, March 10. Ths British Empire came in for a running fire of criticism at the RAw Material*' Conference to-day, especially from Poland. The Polish delegate supported the Japanese proposal for compTeTe freedom of immigration to all colonies, and the abolition of overseas 'tariffs and other trade rsetrictions.

Thit' provoked Sir Harry Stakosch to point out that the British Empire was not a closed monetary and economic unit. The Dominions had political and economic autonomy. If certain countries had not raw materials, it was not due to a lack of colonies, but to the policy of substituting gun* for butter. The American delegate urged the extension of the most-favoured nation clause, the lowering of trade restrictions and the abolition of Empire preferences.
