“PUBLIC SCANDAL”
Appointment of Commercial
Radio Director.
Piess Association —Copyright. Palmerston North, March 4.
"I say it js a public scandal that a man should have been appointed on that basis,” declared Mr. S. G. Holland, M.P., in an address to-night to an enthusiastic gathering of several hundred supporters of the National Party, when he strongly criticised the appointment of the Rev. C. E. Scrymgeour to the position of director of commercial radio advertising at £5OO a year and 7 J per cent of the revenue. It would be as logical to appoint a chief postmaster on the baste of a percentage out of every -stamp told, every parcel posted, and each telegram sent, Mr. Holland continued. It was estimated by competent authorities that Mr. Scrymgeour’s job would be worth at least £lO,OOO a year. If he hung cn long enough he would be a millionaire.
