CORONATION TAPESTRIES

For Use in Westminster Abbey

Owners of valuable tapestries and other hangings have offered these to the Earl Marshal for use in Westminster Abbey during the Coronation service, states 1 the “Daily Telegraph.”

When George V. was crowned the late Duke of Buccleuch and his son, the Earl of Dalkeith, lent some fine pieces of old tapestry with which to cover certain of the Abbey -walls. It if understood that these will be available again. They are sixteenth century Flemish work. A quantity of modern tapestry work was manufactured for the occasion, and this will be used, as will the great carpet of two shader ot blue with heraldic designs arranged in large panels. Something like 900 square yards of material are contained in this carpet, which has been carefully preserved.
