BOWLING TOURNEY

Centre Champions Play at Eltham. The play-off of club champions ‘in the singles bowling championshipt ol the Central Division took place at Eltham yesterday afternoon. Three rounds and the s<uii-final v’ere got through, Tiplady, of Eltham, and Dickinson, of Avon, emerging with two lives and one hfe respectively. The green was good through rather heavy after rain over-night. Messrs A. R. Gower and J. Campbell were the umpires. Details are: Dickinson (Avon) beat Mason (Inglewood) by 24 to 16. Mason -got an early lead but after the fourth head, Dickinson was 4 up. At the eleventh head, went to the front but Rumbiall the Avon champion whnt well to the front. Tiplady (Eltham) beat Rumball (Tariki) by 21 to 14. The Eltham man after an even score at the fourth head, went to the front bu Rumball fought gamely after the 14th. From then on Tiplady scored again to win 21—14. Second Round. Mason beat Harris (Stratford’) by 22 to 20. Harris drew a bye in the first round and kept the Inglewood player busy to snatch a narrow win in this match. Mason maintained a narrow ledd gained at the 15th head. Dickinson beat' Rumball by 21 —17. At the fourth head. Rumball led 5—2 and again. 12’ —6 at the 12th. "Tlifcn the Avon player drew ahead. Third Round. Tiplady beat Harris by 22—16. After close opening play Tiplady 13—-8 at the 13th head. By the 21st, Tiplady v.'as in the lead 19—14 aiiu won eventually 22—16. Dickinson beat Mason by 21—13. After the fifth head the players were even at 6 —6. After the ninth Dickinson esablished an unassailable lead and finished the 16th with a three to win 21 —13. Semi-final. Ti.plady outplayed the Avon champion all through winning on the 14 th head by 21—7. Dickinson scored only on three heads, the fourth, the tenth, and the 13th. The final will be played next Thursday between Tiplady and Dickinson, again at El-t&am.
