Finals Played In Good
Weather.
Good weather was experienced for the first time on the last day, yesterday, of the Avon Croquet Club’s annual gathering. Results of play in the finals were as follow: Championship singles: Mrs Hillock beat Mrs Weston 26 —17. Championship doubles. Knight and Burgess beat Mesdames Weston and Hillock 26 —13.. Open handicap singlet: Mrs Lampshire (3J) beat Mrs Mcßae (6 J) 26—20. Intermediate handicap singles: Mrs Clare (Eltham) won both first and second life sections, obviating the need for a final. In a. special match to decide the runner-up, Mrs Betts beat Mrs Cook 26—19. Open handicap doubles: Mesdames Jenkin and Burton beat Mesdames Masters and Hedditch 26—19. Handicap singles (4 —-6i): Mrs Burton beat Mrs Bamford 26—24. A competition for a cushion given by Mrs McR-ae was won by Miss Pat Kelly.
