Comm uting on the popularity of Queen Elizabeth and the deep inter ■ett her Majesty manifested in the various women’s activities which Fhf graciously’ assisted, a Dunedin visito; (■'■horn we will call Madame X) re calling how and when the mat he, Majestv. then Duchess of York, said that about three years ago while to urine Scotland she visited Balmoral. her visit coinciding with that of the Royal family. In accordance with their annual custom the parishtoirrs of the picturesque little church were holding their bazaar at which Royalty attended. On this particular occasion the Duchess of York presid ed at a stall. Anxious to obtain a souvenir, Madame pointed to a small Miry doll and inquired the price, ijrr ..Royal Highness examined .the label-and remarking that she thought (be price 7/6 -wtas rather dear she appealed to the Duke who was an interested onlook'r. H : s Royal High ness looked speculatively at the doll and smilingly agreed. The Madame said she would buy it as she thought ft would be a suitable souvenir to fake to New Zealand. Her Royal fiighnes® added that she was very glad- the dull was going to New Zealand. She hoped Madame v'ould enjoy her stay in Scotland and have a pleasant voyage home.
