A Society at Its Best. “I think that a society is only at its' best for a short period in its. life just as people are,” said Mr Victor C. Peters, conductor for the Christchurch Harmonic Society, at the annual meeting of th© society. He added: “While a society is at its best let it consolidate what it has gained.”

On Saturday and Sunday next the West Coast (North Island) Surf LifeSaving Championships will be held at Cas'tlecliff Beach, Wanganui. A splendid opportunity is offered local residents to witness the finals on Sunday afternoon. The Railway Department has arranged a popular excursion to Wanganui for this day. Particulars will bo found in our advertising columns in this issue.
