SCHOOL COMMITTEES
CENTRAL ASSOCIATION. Good Work Accomplished During Past Year. The annual meeting of the Central Taranaki School Committees’ Association was held this afternoon, Mr. J. Morrison presiding. A successful year was reported, the number of affiliated committees having increased to 22. "The meetings have been fairly well attended and many very important educational matters have been discussed with creditable results.” stated the report. “We are indebted to Mr Insull. secretary, Taranaki Education Board, and Mr. J. A. Valentine, chairman, for the valuable Information given regarding consolidation of schools, transport of children to school, and in Introducing a more equitable scheme for the payment of capitation. We are pleased that the Education Department has increased the grant for incidental allowances to an extant that enables school commit- , tees to carry on the good work. "It is also pleasing to note that a greater number of dental nurses are being trained. This will be of great benefit to the back-country children who are unfortunate in not having the dental service that children in town receive. This association strongly favours a mobile cllnip and will give the Department all assistance possible to have same established.
"We thank North Taranaki School Committees’ Association for invitation to annual meeting, thereby enabling us to hear the Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, and the Director of Education, Mr. Lambourne, talk on education generally.”
