RACE REVIEWS.

TO-MORROW’S EVENTS ! Horses in Form, by “Odds ! On.” ! The Opunake Racing Club holds j its annual meeting on Saturday and i v'ill employ the single pool, 75 —>25 ! per cent, on the totalisator. For the J good stakes offered by a one-day club, i fair field's promise to face the starter I and good racing should be witnessed ■ by patrons. * PATIKI HURDLES HANDICAP, of ‘ £lOO. One mile and a half. —Rua- '• form 11.12, Don Erma 10.11, Bazaine j 9.13, Beau Star 9.11, King Pluto, Min- ! tour 9.0. The hurdles should see Don Erma j and Bazaine fighting out a good fin- > ish but clean jumping may enable j the result to be DON ERMA. BAZAINE. ■X- w ■&• MAIDEN RACE, of £lOO. Six furlongs.—Car beat, Gay Step, Kentucky Song. Kia Ora, Naughty Marietta, Ohanga, River Feaie. Running Shoes, I Valrqy, Waiwhetu 8.5; Fafner, Gaily, ■ Lickem, Pantoon, Seaham, St. Cedric 7.7.

In the Maiden run over six furlongs the first five horses have dual en- i gagements and visitors? will have a i better opportunity of sorting the | dividend payers. Seahani is now well-experienced and ripe for one. ; Lickem was a whisper at Hawera and ' may succeed here. Kentucky Song I must not be neglected in any maiden. I Kia Ora is still being taken to the ! races with expectations of its breed- j ing making for its success. Gay i St< p appeals more over five furlong's I later in the day, whilst Naughty | Marietta, though a danger here, ap | peals over more ground. Gaily and ' Fafner are likely youngsters and may ; carry fair support. Ohanga it' well ■ seasoned now and may produce some- i thing very appetising. In a. difficult! field of maidens likely ones are SEAHAM. LICKEM. KENTUCKY SONG. * * *

FLYING HANDICAP, of £l5O. Six i furlongs.—Lady Kyra 9.5, Taitoru I 8.9, Refresher 8.2, The Tiger 8.1, Sup- i rente Court 7.10, Bazaine, Erebus 7.9; | Mustang, Moatoa, Cheval de Volee ■ 7.7. I The Flying Handicap is headed by . Lady Kyra with a big weight but she i is reported fit and ready to carry it ; and may carry most support. The ; Tiger should be ready to produce an i early lead which may prove the j requisite asset on this course. Should • Erebus get going early he may be J hardest to head. Cheval de Volee ; will be hard in whatever race pro- ’ duced. Tliose filling places may be j THE TIGER. EREBUS. LADY KYRA. - j * * * ELECTRIC HACK HANDICAP, of i £lOO. Five furlongs.—Erebus 9.6, ! Colleen Gain, Dancing Lady 8.4; Ken- I tucky 7.12, Eagle’s Eye 7.10, Etiquette 7.9, Gay Step, Tomoana, Valroy, Ser- | viette, Mintour 7.7.

Places at the post may assist in the Electric Hack run over five furlongs. Colleen Gain won nicely at Hawera but on Monday at Woodville whipped round at barrier rise and took no part in the race. Dancing Lady has quickly returned to form and with Eagle’s Eye suited are both likely. The next five, though maidens, are very smart and granted a fair start, may produce .the winner. Several acceptors here have other engagements complicating the assessment of places. Try them thus GAY STEP (if reserved), SERVIETTE. EAGLE’S EYE. * * *

OPUNAKE CUP. of £’2oo. One mile and a quarter.—Taitoru 9.0, Onewhetu 8.12, Friesland 8.11, Aussie Ra 8.2, Tahurangi 7.10, Tout le Monde, Davistock 7.9, Windscreen, Mustang, Bantry, CoroWa, Red Sand, Cheval de Voice 7.7.

The Cup presents a handy field of eight -where Friesland as weighted stands out alone, but nevertheless the last four carded may produce the winner. Red Sand (who has refused in the following event) has met misfortune in several recent outings, and may appreciate the minimum thereby attracting attention. Corowa also refused in the President’s nine furlongs and accepted in the last race, but if produced here possesses a splendid chance. Bantry appears to race more generously now and with Mustang is a distinct possible. Tahurangi needs only slight improvement whilst should Davistock strike form here the Cup would enlarge the local collection. Windscreen has no recent form but is' long overdue for something sensational. However, the choice goes to FRIESLAND. RED SAND. ~— COROWA. - E

PRESIDENT’S HACK HANDICAP, of £lOO. Nine furlongsi—CoroWa 9.0, Red Sand 8.7, Internatonal 8.4, Bonny Glow 8.3, Autumn Leaf 8.0, Silver Gold. Naughty Marietta, Car Leaf 7.7. The President's Hack Handicap over nine furlongs should be a gift, i to International if he is at all worthy of the support accorded in full fields of much bitter quality. Bonny Glow will have every chance in this small field to improve on her recent placings. The tame governing conditions should allow the other two to produce their best which may not be negligible. It looks like INTERNATIONAL. BONNY GLOW. * * * RAILWAY HACK HANDICAP, of £lOO. Six furlongs. -Ned Cuttie 9.0, Ngatirahiri 8.11, Corowa 8.9, Cheval de Voice, Eara, Calshot 8.8, Colleen Gain, Dancing Lady 8.3, Autumn Leaf 7.13, Kentucky Song, Te Broney 7.10, Ohanga, Running Shoes, Etiquette, King Pluto 7.7. The Railway Hack Handicap over six furlongs may see a fair field and three dividends. Ned Gll't-tle may lie just beaten by the weight he has lo give Cheval de Volee (if reserved) and Eara, both appearing likely to fill places. Te Broney is th eonly other acceptor without a previous engage- ■ merit and a glance at her history re--1 veals minor placlngs of grekt recommendation here. Second here i frequently prove fruitful but at pre- | sent it looks like CHEVAL DE VOLEE. EARA. , NED CUTTLE.
