RAS DESTA’S DEATH
CAPTURED AND SHOT.
FAMILY IN ENGLAND.

Press Association—Copyright. Received 10.15 a.m. Rome,, February 25. An official statement says: Ras Desta, the Emperor’s sonain-jlaw, whom the Emperor is reported to have favoured to represent him at the Coronation, was rounded up by a flying column, captured, and shot.
He leaves his, widow, and seven children, who are at present in England with Haile Selassie. Marshal Graziani, in his report to Mussolini, sayy that Ras Desta, in December, sent emissaries promising submission, but it was believed he was only temporising while he collected troops. Marshal Graziani recalls that Mussolini ordered a time limit of seven days to be given for Ras Desta's surrender. When the time expired, Graziani took out an expedition and defeated Ras Desta, Who, with a lieutenant, escaped until last week, when he was brought in after the action in which Gambre Mariam and others were killed. Ras Desta again escaped until captured yesterday. Marshal Graziani adds: “I am proud to lay in the Duce’s hand complete victory, enabling civil development of the Empire without anxiety.”
