AVON CROQUET
Rain Interrupts Tournament Play. The Avon Croquet Club’s annual tournament,, which vias postponed for two days; was begun yesterday morning and, although rain fell at inter vals, nine games were decided. There was no play to-day but, if weather permits, the tournament will be continued to-morrow morning. Results yesterday were:Handicap Singles, 4—6 J Section 1: Mrs Burton (Avon, 6) beftt Mrs Peacock (Eltham, si) 26—4; Mrs R. Galbraith (Avon, 6J) beat Mre Peacock 26—19. Handicap Singles, 7—12. Section 1: Mrs Vinsen (Stratford, 10) beat Mrs Bird (Avon, 12) 26—14. Section 2: Mrs Morgan (Mangatoki, 12) beat Mrs Bryce (Avon, 7J) 26—23. Championship Doubles. Mesdames' Knight and Burgess (Stratford) beat Mesdames Bamford (Stratford) and Masters (Avon) 26—16. Handicap Doubles. Mesdames Hillock (3i) and Cook (9J) (Stratford l ) beat Mesdames Morgan (12) and Bennie (12) (Mangatogi 22—.19; Mesdames Lampshire (3J) and Rogers (9) (Avon) beat Mesdames Peacock (SJ) and Ware (6 J) (Eltham) 26—8; Mesdames Gower (6) and Clare (9) (Eltham) beat Mesdames Phillips (12) and Sherrin (12) (Mangatoki) 26—14; Mesdames Hey (2J) (Hawera Park) and Brier (6) (Kawaria Park beat Mesdames Weston (3J) and Blick (10) (Stratford)' 24—-gl.
