HOLIDAYS WITH PAY

Government to Inquire Into Position. (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, Feb. 23. The Manchester Guardian understands that as a result of recent negotiations between Ministers and trade union leaders the Government has decided to set up a committee to inquire into the question of holidays with pay. The Minister of Labour, Mr. Ernest Brown, stated in the House of Commons recently that although the information related only to industries covered by collective agreements, it is.' believed that about 1,500,000 workers are at present receiving holidays

with pay. It is recalled that the House of Commons has twice given a second reading to private members’ Bills to provide for an annual holiday of eight consecutive days 1 with pay.
