FOOTBALL SEASON.
Meeting of Stratford Club 1 Committee. The committee of the Stratford ■ Football Club met last night when the report and balance sheet to be submitted to the annual meeting to be h Id in the second week in March, was approved. Mr C. Massey presided. Consideration of a suggestion by the Stratford' Coronation Celebrations Committee that a seven --a-side tournament be held was deferred until after the annual meeting.
Advice was received that the Taranaki Rugby Union’s' annual meeting \ >ould be held a fortnight, earlier than usual and clubs have been requested to forward any remits to the union secretary by March 9. Tfje club was informed that in view of the fact that Taranaki was down to take the second or third match in New Zealand against the Springboks, and also in view of the fact that prior to the end of July the union’s team would be playing Wellington, Auckland and Wanganui, and that some of these matches Would be Saturday games, it was thought advisable to hold the annual meeting earlier and to see that the competitions started earlier than usual.
