Woman Golfer.

Lady Heathcote-Amory, formerly Missi Joyce Wetihered, the noted British woman golfer, is on a honeymoon visit to New Zealand. The announcement of the engagement to Miss Wethered of Captain Sir John Heathcote-Amory was made in September iand the marriage took place a fev.' weeks ago. Miss' Wethered,, states an exchange’s London correspondent, who is 34, and who has been, described as the “Harry Vardon of women’s golf,” retired at the height of her success She had won everything worth winning, including the women’s open championship four times, and the English championship five times. In February. 1935, she joined the staff of a West End store as a golf advis'er and later she toured the United States and Canada as a golf professional. Sir John, v'ho is 42, first met his bride-to-be on the golf course at Hoylake in the spring of last year, and it was during’a golf match at Brancaster, Norfolk, a few months later, that they became engaged. Sir John gave his fiancee a diamond half hoop engagement ring, which had been worn by his great-great-grandmother, his grandmother and his mother. In. addition to being a keen golfer, Sir John is a good cricketer, ski-er and tennis player. Many golfing friends of the bride and bridegroom were present at tfie wedding.
