Herb Graffis. 1 , of Chicago, tells me in. a note (writes a British sports critic) that there will be a new golf competition In America next summer, which will be sponsored by a famous • motor-car corpora tion . . . . The prize money will be £7OOO, it will be played late in May, and it the intention to invite a large number of British professionals to participate in it . . . Their travelling expenses will be met, which is an important. consideration, and in addition they will be given opportunities of playing in the American P.G.A.’echampionship and in the American open .... They will have plenty of time to get back for the British open and the Ryder Cup . . . Mussolini’s latest is an instruction that golf must be popularised in Italy ... To help the good work, four Italo-Americans will be engaged to do Marero, Revolta, and Ghezzi . . . All are also expected to play in the British open.
