The Federal Minister of Commerce, Sir Henry Gullett, states that the trade between Australia and the United States for the .six months ended December 31 did not show a favourable balance, as had been stated. The Australian exports included gold and gold specie, which was not taken into the trading accounts between the two countries. “The new position, however,” said Sir Henry Gullett, “shows a refreshing improvement upon the average balances of the recent half-yearly periods.”
