COMMERCIAL CANNIBALISM. "It is unfortunate that some of the town carriers have not acquainted themselves with the regulations,” said Mr. P. E. Stainton, secretary ot the Taranaki Carriers Association, at the sitting of the ’ No. 2 Transport Licensing Authority at Stratford today. "It is reported that what Mr. Semple calls commercial cannbalism is going on.”
RAILWAY COMPETITION. At the commencement of the sitting of the No 2 Transport Licensing Authority at Stratford to-day, Mr. P. Skoglund announced that he had decided not to hear arguments in cases where the Railway Department interests were in conflict with those ot carriers. The licenses affected would be renewed until May 31, 1937 and the question of rail versus motor could then be urged.
PUBLIC WORKS LORRIES. Complain that he Would be squeezed out of business by the action of the Public Works Department in putting on their own motor lorries, was made hy an applicant for a carrier’s license at the sitting of he No. 2 Transport Licensing Authority to-day.
