Further Charge Of Theft From a Stratford Hotel.

Convicted in the New Plymouth Police Court yesterday on seven charges comprising false pretences, conversion and theft, Richard Hugh Champion, aged 26 years, a labourer, ot Auckland, was this morning sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment by Mr. W. H. Woodward S.M., in the New Plymouth Court. Accused had posed as a Public Works Department timekeeper, as a student doctor, and as a member ot the; New Plymouth Hospital medical staff.

At Stratford this morning. Sergeant C. M. Anniss recovered a suitcase and contents, valued at £25, which, was stolen from a Stratford hotel on February 4, and Champion will be charged in the New Plymouth Court this afternoon with the theft of the property, which belonged to F. C. Johansen, a Wellington itii&vj&ller.
