Mr. P. Galvin, founder of the 1T3,wera Star, and a former secretary of the Mines Department, died at Wellington on Thursday at the age of 89 years. Miss E. Pearce, of the Gore High School staff, was appointed at the meeting of the Stratford Technical High School Board last night, to succeed Miss E. Lama Eon as commercial instructor. Miss La mason has accepted a position on the staff of the Seddon Memorial Technical College, Auckland. Mr. Gordon Sayers left by the express this morning for Nelson where he will compete in the soprano cornet championships at the Dominion band contest which opens on Monday, in 1934 Mr. Sayers won the Boy’d chain p.onship at the Wellington contest. Alternative schemes are being investigated by the Public Works Department and data are being collected - : n conn ction with the elimination of crossings at Gordon road and Douglas.
