Once again Gordon Richards has finished the English season ahead of all others so far as the number of winners ridden is concerned, al though he has not succeeded in top ping the 200 mark, as he did in all three previous years. This t’me Richards rode 177 winners, 159 seconds, and 109 thirds, compared with the 108 winners ridden by his most formidable competitor th’ North Country jockey, William Nevett, and the 104 ridden by J. Birdtt. In fairness to the others however, It must be said that Gordoe had many more rides, his total mounts being exactly 1000, to th 561 CT Nev- tt, and 736 of Sirett,
