Miss Ray N. Shannon, Stratford, is amongst the 25 Taranaki students definitely selected for admission to the Auckland Teachers’ Training College.
Mr. R. P. Baker, who has been seriously ill In the Stratford Hospital for the past three months, has recently made a splendid recovery. He will probably be leaving the hospital for his home in Cloton road within the course of a few days.
Pall-bearers at the funeral of Mr. A. Thorne at New Plymouth yesterday were Messrs. I. M. Kidd (a director of Newton King, Ltd.), J. M. O’Reilly (representing Customs Department), W. G. Mander (representing shipping interests), Percy Smith, PungaTehu (representing the farming community), R. H. Burmetter (Stratford Staff of Newton King, Ltd.), and C. H. Wynyard (representing the Taranaki Club and New Plymouth Golf Club). Services at St. Mary’s church and at the graveside were conducted by Archdeacon G. H. Gavin.
