HEALTH SCHEME.
Former Cricketer Chairman Of Council. Press Association—Copy Tigh t. London, February 8. The former Middlesex cricketer, Lord Aberdare, will become chairman of the national advisory council under the Government’s new physical fitness l scheme. Mr Oliver Stanley, President of the Board of Education, making the announcement in the House of Commons, described the duties of the council, which he said were partly scientific, but perhaps the most important work would be propaganda and publicity. The council will consist of 30 members. It will establish and work through local committees a scheme not intended to deal with nutrition but to be complementary to the Government’s measures to improve nutrition.
Mr Stanley admitted there were black spots in the country, but the idea that the .great mass of people of Britain were so underfed that they were unable to derive profit from physical training was' grotesque.
