CABINET MAY RESHUFFLE

FOREIGN SECRETARY COLLECTIVE ACTION. Mr. Eden Ceased To Carry Former Weight. Press Association—Copyright. London, Feb. 8. It is suggested that the irreconcilability of the viewpoints of Herr Hitler and Mr R. A. Eden may cause a reshuffle of the British Cabinet. The Daily Mail’s political correspondent, pointing out that Lord Halifax, owing to Mr. Eden’s absence on holiday, is expected to receive Herr von Ribbentrop. German Ambassador, when he calls at the Foreign Office shortly, says Mr. Eden’s decision to take a holiday abroad at a crucial time in interactional affairs has roused conflicting reports. It is suggested in political circles that Mr. Eden has ceased to carry the weight he once carried in the Cabinet and that he may be transferred to another department owing to his continued belief in collective action. Sir Samel Hoare is mentioned as a successor.

The News Chronicle’s Paris correspondent, however, asserts that Britain and France are agreed that neither will open independent negotiations with Germany on the subject of colonies, for which reason it is assumed the conversations between Herr von Ribbentrop and Lord Halifax will be of little importance.
