WEDDING ON MAY 2

DUKE OF WINDSOR. MRS. SIMPSON. Orgy Of Spending In Readiness For Event. Press Association—Copyright. Received 11.30 a.m. London, February 7. The Mayor of Cannes told the Sunday Referee that he expects the Duke of Windsor and Mrs. Simpson to marry there early in May. Another report from Vienna states that the marriage will take place at the British Legation there on May 2. The Referee says that Mrs. Simpson is shopping daily at Cannes, buying her trousseau, but in accordance with the Duke of Windsor's wish, most of her gowns will be bought from British firms. Mrs. Simpson is said to have recovered her former good spirits, and she asked two Hungarian pianists at a recent dinner party at Monte Carlo to play “Tchitt, Tchitt, Tchitt,” a tune associated with her visit Budapest with the Duke of Windsor last year. The Duke is reported to have placed an order for jewellery with a Paris firm. It is believed that the Princess Royal will be the bearer of family plans for the settlement of the Duke’s personal finances.’ He, apparently in excellent spirits, met the Princess Royal and Lord Harewood at the Vienna station, and the party went to the British Legation for tea. They are expected to go to Enzesfeld later in the day.
