Japanese Increase Activities In Antarctic. Press Association—Copyright. (Received 1 p.m.) Tokio, February 7. Due to the success of the growing whaling industry, the Ministry of Agriculture’® Bureau of Industrieshas sanctioned the operation for ‘the 1938-39 season in the Antarctic, three new whalers. These will be the Kyodo Fishery Company's 27,000 ton mother-ship equipped with eight 260 tonners; the Taiyo Whaling Company’s 15,000 ton vessel, with nine 200 tonners, and the Sumatra Colonisation Company’s 16,000 ton mothership with eight 250 tonners.
