Social and Personal. MBss Bartleet has returned from Auckland. * * * Mrs'. G. Halt and Mlaster Caplin Hall are at present enjoying a camping holiday at the Urenui beach. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Jos Boon, who have been the guests' of Mrs. H. Masters, returned to Whakatane on Thursday. * * * Mrs. G. Carter's many friends will be pleased to learn that she is making a. good recovery after her accident in Wellington. * k « Miss Marian Pitt has been the guest of Mrs. W. Weston at Tier beach cottage, New Plymouth, and has returned after a delightful holiday. * * * Mrs E. H. Young and family have returned from their beach cottage, Ngambtu. Mrs. Young is accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Hussey, Aus rtralia. * * * Mrs A. R. L. Batten. Portia Street, entertained some friends' on Thursday afternoon. The hostess was wearing a becoming leaf brown floral crepe de chine. Her drawing room looked gay with many shaded hydrangias and autumn leaves. Amongst thoee present Were Mesdames H. T. Cooper, Owens, N. O. Ebbett and Armstrong. * * * The fine weather was responsible: for a large attendance of Stratford people at the New Plymouth races. Some of those present were: Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Malone, Mr and Mrs' R. Fryday, Mr and Mrs H. Good, Mr and Mrs W. H. h. Young, Mr and Mi's A. Coleman, Mr and Mrs E. Buist, Mr and Mrs J. A. J. Coldwell, Mr and Mrs A. H. R. Amese, Mr and Mrs M. McDonald and the Misses McDonald, Mr and Mrs Wilmshurst; Meedames E. p. Hill, P. Harrison, Vickers, Mark; the- Misses J. Hill, M. Curd. McDonald., Dolski, and a lost of others.
