Higher Cpsts Of Transporting New Zealand Coal.

Wellington, Last Night, At a meeting of the Wellington Coal Merchant!. l and Dealers' Association to-day consideration was given to the notification from the shipping companies that freight charge* on New Zealand seaborne coal would be Increased to the extent of 2s 6d a ton, and the following resolution, was carried unanimously: "That thi* meeting regrets that it is necessary to increase the price of New Zealand sea-borne coal by 2d a cwt. for cwr, lote up to 4cwt., 9d for quarter-ton lots, Is 3d for half-ton lats and 2* 6d a ton, coal nuts to be inerdaaed to 2d a cwt,” The new prices will talfa effect from Monday.
