NEW ZEALAND NURSES.

Annual Meeting of Christian Union.

The annual meeting of the New Zealand Nurses’ Christian Union was held in Wellington recently, when a report war read by Miss J. Samson, South Island secretary, and a short address giiven by Mrs Tythe Brown, the retiring president. Dr Gordon Anderson was in the chair. Mies Samson’s report showed an increase df 103 members in the, N.C.U., making a grand' total of 1300. New groups have been formed at Blenheim and Gore, and a scattered nurses’ group started in Oamaru. The financial position was satisfactory, the balance-sheet showing a credit balance of £39. Miss Samson said that notable throughout the year had been the feeling of cooperation and goodwill between the Nurses’ Christian Union and other youth movements in the Dominion. A pleasing factor in the present conference was that all denominations were represented, which augured well for the future. She hoped that the conference would result in renewed consecration for all. Mrs Tythe Brown, retiring president, whfl has been closely connected with the N.C.U. for many years, wel corned Milss E. Williams, of Havelock North. Mies Williams (who is a granddaughter of Rev. Henry Williams, a pioneer settler of New Zealand who landed here in 1822), founded the movement in 1922, and found a ready response from many nurses who had been praying for the inception of such an organisation. Mrs 5 J. Carswell, missionary secretary, gave a report of the mission nurses’ activities, and read greetings from nurses in far-off parts of the world. yons9 Frida dYZES TH AR OD ODI The Dominion executive was elected as follows:—President, Mrs Bayldon Ewen; vfae.presidfe.ntt', Misses A.
