Australian Men’s Singles Tennis Title. Press Association —Copyright. Sydney, January 31. Australian tennis championships results are: Men’s singles champion, final: V. McGrath defeated W. Bromwich, 6-3, 1-6, 6-0, 2-6, 6-1. Womens’ singles, final: Miss N. Wynne (Victoria) defeated Miss T. Coyne (New South Wales), 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. Women’s doubles, semi-final: Misses Coyne and N. Wynnee defeated Mrs. Westacott (ueensland) and Mrs Hopman (Victoria), 6-2, 6-2. Boys’ junior doubles, final: Bromwich and D. Paris defeated H. Lindo and J. Gilchrist, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. In the Davis Cup exhibition match A. K. Quist and Schwartz v. A. Huxley and D. Turnbull, play was abandoned when the score was 4-6. 6-3, 10-10. The McGrath v. Bromwich match was generally conceded to be up to Davis Cup standard. McGrath was in rare form and seldom missed a smash. Bromwich won two sets almost as he liked, but McGrath dominated the other .three.
