TOUR IN AUSTRALIA.

Return Of New Zealand Party

Press Association—Copy’right. Wellington, To-day

Members of a. party of Zealanders organised by Mr A. J. Heslehurst for a tour of parts of Australia returned to Wellington in the Alwatea on Friday, and each of the 25 tourists spoke highly of the trip and the arrangements made for their reception and comfort in the Commonwealth.

Leaving Wellington on December 21, the party reached Sydney on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day was spent in visits to several of Sydney’s beaches. On Boxing Day a motor tour, covering 2500 miles, was begun, the itinerary including sightseeing in and around Sydney. On December 28 the party departed for Melbourne by way of well-known points of historic interest. Some time was devoted to inspecting numerous towns, villages, farms and scenic resorts on the way. Visits to a coal -mine and Victoria s great power scheme were greatly enjoyed, as were trips to Mount Buffalo and the Hume Weir, the latter a wonderful engineering feat. At Canberra two hours were spent in looking over the Federal Parliament House- Goulburn and Bathurst were visited during the journey to the Jenolan Caves and the Blue Muntains, where the majestic scenery was much admired. Going on to Newcastle, the party was shown over the vast steelworks and the cathedral. Sydney was reached on January 14, and two pleasant days were spent there before the tour ended on January 16. Before the party disbanded Mr. Heselhurst was presented by the tourists with a wallet as a mark of. appreciation.
