HAWERA’S LAST-MINUTE VICTORY OVER STRATFORD.
DONNELLY’S FINE INNINGS FOR SCHOOL TEAM. POWER BOARD AND KAPONGA PLAY TO A DRAW. A last-minute six, giving Hawera a win over Stratford in the Senior A South Taranaki cricket match at Victoria Park on Saturday, provided one of the several exciting finishes that were experienced in the day’s play in Taranaki cricket. The ball was hit by Shaw in the last over of the day. In the other South Taranaki match Power Board and Kaponga drew at Kaponga. Hawera Old Boys' matches were not played, out of respect for Mr. A. Sagar, vice-president of the club. Martin Donnelly, New Plymouth High School captain and Wellington representative, with an undefeated innings of 90, gave his team a complete reversal over New Plymouth, division leader. Western Park also staged a fine recovery to defeat Old Boys outright.
