SUGAR SUPPLIES.

Increased Quantities Now Entering England. Press Association—Copyright. Received noon. London, January 28. While it is considered certain that the Sugar Conference will be held, it is doubted in London whether such short notice will achieve good resuits. Il is believed that behind the plan is a definite move to limit, or cut down Considerably, Empire supplies of sugar to the United Kingdom. Increasing quantities which are entering under the preferential scale are causing the Chancellor of the Exchequer marked concern. The operation of preference and the steady rise in supplies from the Empire are resulting in a big loss of revenue to the Treasury.
