AUTUMN SHOW.
Executive’s Report To General Committee Meeting. Bright prospects for the success of the Stratford Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s Autumn Show are referred to in the report of the executive to be submitted to a meeting of the general committee. In reporting progress the Executive stated that although the weather had not been too favourable, prospects were that there would be plenty of feed for the stock at the Autumn Shew. Prize schedules had been cbm pl eted and distributed throughout the Dominion as usual. Exhibitors in general wera optimistic and it was the unanimous opinion that all would be present in full force with high quality teams.
Prize Money.. I The prize money in a larga numi ber of classes had been augmented • with subsidies and trophies. The i Stratford Jersey Cattle Club had I donated £3.5/5/-, which would be giv- ! en in addition to the usi.i.l prieto • n-oney for the Pedigree Jersey classes. The Member for Stratford, Mr. W. J. Polson, had donated a handsome trophy, value £5/5/-, which was offered to the winner of the Open Hunters' Competition, in addition to the prize money of £lO which j was off red. Mr. A. D. Jury also ' gave a £5/5/- cup for the Two Miles ■ Trotting Race, (in harness). This was also in addition to the prize money offered, namely £l4. The schedule was draft d to suit all exhibitors. Particular attention had been paid to the Pony Classes. These catered for all sizes of ponies and all ages of boys and girls, also adults. Special indulgence had been given to i Consolation Events for all, so that if i possible, all would be likely prize I winners. ! Complimentary Tickets. A reminder was given to those m. miners who may have mislead or not read the circulars posted on December 22nd 1936, that members’ complimentary tickets for ’the Autumn Show would be posted to financial members only. The Executive ruled that financial members were those who had paid their subscriptions by 31st January, 1937. This enforcement was necessary for tickets would have to be printed and posted early in February. Every assistance from members in this direction was asked. Th. re was still room on the list for those willing to subscribe to the prize fund. To add to the already attractive ring programme, three Axemens’ events had been included. These would be held under the Axemens’ Union rules and would comprise a 12in. chop of £ll. (As the Show dates coincided with the opening of the chopping season, large entries were anticipated in these events.
