HAYSTACK BURNS

Pembroke Road Farmer s Heavy Loss.

Spontaneous combustion caused the loss of a newly finished haystack, valued at more than £lOO, the property of Mr. W. McNel, Pembroke Road.

Mr. McNeil, first noticed the outbreak at mid-day yesterday but it was by that time burning fiercely and nothing could be done to stem the outbreak. Although the flames died down during the afternoon the stack is still burning and is expected to smoulder for some days yet. Mr. McNeil had completed the stack about a week ago and had practically finished the erection of a fence around it when the fire occurred.
