Caledonian Meeting Should Have Been Held.

The idea that athletic meetings should not bo held during the present infantile paralysis epidemic was scouted by speakers at the meeting of the Taranaki suib-contre of the New Zealand Athletic Association at Stratford last night. The point aross when the postponement of the Taranaki Caledonian Sports Association’s meeting to have been held on January 23 was mentioned. “The association was bluffed into it," sad the chairman, Mr. A. G. Whiting. “The sports were postponed but race meetings

are going on just the same. The a - socation missed an excellent opportunity for holding a successful meeting.

Others members agreed with this [mint of view, Mr. C. H. Broker, New Plymouth, remarking: They tell us to get into the fresh air. W’nat bet ter means of doing this is there than attending an ’ athletic meeting.
